ITX8301 Magistriseminar I / MSc Seminar I

Lecturers: Alex Horst Norta and Juhan Ernits

Autumn 2016: Monday 16:00 in rooms ICT-A1 and ICT-A2. The seminar will be held jointly in ICT-A1 from Sept 5 - Oct 3.

This semester please declare the course in ÕIS to Juhan Ernits.

Plan:

   September 5: Introduction. Seminar on how to search research papers.
   September 12: Structured research I
   September 19: Sturctured research II
       Homework paper: to be read by next seminar
   September 26: Reading research papers
   October 3: Some advice on giving talks

There will be student presentations starting from October 12 given in two concurrent sessions. Each student will have to give one presentation about some paper/tool/technique that is relevant to their planned topic.

Evaluation:

To get a grade in the seminar it will be necessary to

  • Submit a problem statement by November 27 to the seminar course in https://ained.ttu.ee.
  • Give a talk in the seminar.
  • Be present in at least 8 of the seminars during which students give presentations.

The assessment includes a grade which will be determined in the following way:

  • 70% of the mark will be based on the written contribution of the Problem Statement.
  • 30% of the mark will be based on the oral contribution.
