Public Lecture Blum 2013
The next public cyber security lecture at Tallinn University of Technology will take place at 1000-1130 on Thursday the 5th of December. This event is part of a lecture series supported by the IT Academy and within the framework of the European Cyber Security Month. Abstract
After the scandal of Snowden having revealed the NSA's surveillance practices, there is an increasing need for security products, especially for encrypted voice call services. This lecture introduces a real-life service (kryng.me) for encrypted mobile communication and gives an overview of it. We walk through the architecture and basic components of the server system and the mobile client apps as well. What security and transfer-related protocols are used? What were the challenges during the product development? These topics and more are covered during the lecture.
Bio
Laszlo Blum, entrepreneur, head of Blum Software Engineering LLC. He has been in the IT industry for more than 20 years working and partnering with companies like Ericsson, GE Healthcare, Huawei and Nokia. Actively participated in the building of Nokia's biggest open-source mobile platform Maemo/Meego. Big fan of open source and mobile technologies. Former assistant professor of University of Veszprem, Hungary. Father of three children.
